About Us

Osprey Wings Ltd. was founded by Garry and Bonnie Thompson. At the age of 17 Garry ventured into the tourist business at Nemeiben Lake and in 1961 moved to Otter Lake (Missinipe) to further expand his future. With his wife Bonnie, operating a fly-in fishing camp dictated the need for aircraft and thus he purchased a Luscombe and then achieved his pilot’s license in 1964.

In the late 60’s Garry obtained a restricted charter license enabling them to fly their guests. With the north opening up he saw the opportunity to expand and acquired an open charter license, and additional staff and aircraft to meet the needs. New bases were opened up throughout the north and a diverse fleet of aircraft were purchased to meet the demand, flying on wheels, skis, and floats. In the early 80’s, with the closing of Uranium City, northern bases were sold and the focus remained at Otter Lake. The business continued its growth with their three children taking active roles in the operation.

The charter aircraft company provides services for fishing lodges, private cabins, canoeists, sightseeing, fire suppression, exploration, surveying, and other groups. Many types of aircraft were bought and sold over the years which today have been narrowed down to DeHavilland Beavers, Turbo Otters, and Twin Otters on floats and skis.

The company head office and new hanger/maintenance facilities are located on the Churchill River system in the Northern Hamlet of Missinipe, 80 KM north of La Ronge, Saskatchewan. Aircraft services are provided throughout the north.

Osprey Wings Ltd. remains a family owned and operated business that has built its’ reputation on well- maintained aircraft, experienced pilots, caring staff, and personable, reliable service!!
